Rio de Janeiro, April 13, 2023: AKAER and Dassault Systèmes today announced the signature of a memorandum of understanding to combine the expertise of both companies in the Aerospace and Defense Industry in order to promote innovation and technology development for strategic Defense projects in Latin America.
The announcement was made at a ceremony during the LAAD Fair, the most important Defense and Security Fair in Latin America, in the presence of Cesar Silva, President & CEO at AKAER, and Alejandro Chocolat, Managing Director Latin America, Dassault Systèmes.
“The partnership with Dassault Systèmes dates back to our foundation, 30 years ago. This new partnership marks a new stage in our history and will be very important to consolidate the protagonism and contribution that AKAER has been presenting in the defense industry with engineering excellence and innovation,” said Cesar Silva.
The MoU will prioritize strategic defense projects, fostering innovation in products, processes, and technology, and driving digital transformation across the ecosystem. AKAER will continue implementing model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and virtual twin technologies to accelerate engineering processes for new product development and modernization of existing assets requiring more complex, competitive, and robust capabilities as part of its digital transformation journey.
“Advanced technologies are being incorporated into new defense systems to enhance their effectiveness and versatility. Multiple defense assets need to constantly be combined in a ‘systems of systems’ approach to support more complex missions. This is the kind of technological advancement we want to bring in collaboration with AKAER,” highlights Alejandro Chocolat.
Under the MoU, AKAER and Dassault Systèmes also plan to strengthen their relationship with innovation ecosystem partners from universities and research institutions in Brazil to foster sustainable innovation as well as to promote the adoption of the latest cutting-edge technologies in academia.
“The strong collaboration between companies and universities is essential to support the Defense sector. Common vision and harmonization of concepts and technologies such as MBSE and virtual twins will enhance the knowledge transfer, access to cutting-edge research and specialized expertise, and accelerate the innovation process towards the creation of new products, services, and technologies, contributing to the economic growth and development in Brazil,” explained Joselito Henriques, Vice-President of Research, Development, and Innovation at AKAER.
